Euro XVI Association is the result of a narrow collaboration between 6 cities that every year remember
one of the most important or repre- sentative periods of its history, Renaissance time.
The following 6 European towns, Bretten,
Lessines, Puy-en-Velay,
Thiene, Tortosa and
Wittenberg,
go back to the 16th Century and relive their Renaissance past once a year. Craftsmen, musicians,
dancers and entertainers from all over take the streets of these cities bringing with them their
music and merriment. The inhabitants of these cities stroll around in Renaissance costumes.
In every nook and cranny, there are inns where one can taste traditional Renaissance food and
drinks. Music, plays, dances, tournaments, games, and ceremonies form part of such festivals.
The Euro 16th project was first developed in 2002. At present, some activities are taken with the
objective of facilitating not only the exchange of ideas and resources but also the promotion of
such festivities all around Europe.
